How to Use the Washington Child Support Calculator

Enter what you know and press Calculate Estimate. The calculator follows the Washington State Child Support Schedule and the WSCSS worksheets.

  1. Enter each parent's gross monthly income. The calculator turns it into net income.
  2. Choose the number of children and the parent the children live with most of the time.
  3. Enter the children's health insurance premium and day care costs, and say who pays them.

Your numbers are sent with the form, not placed in the page address, and this site does not store them. This is a planning estimate of the standard calculation. A Washington court or the Division of Child Support sets the actual amount.

Washington Child Support Schedule in 2026

Looking for Washington child support guidelines for 2026? A new economic table took effect January 1, 2026 (RCW 26.19.020). It covers combined net income up to $50,000 a month and families with up to five children. The schedule instructions were updated in June 2026.

The self-support reserve is 180% of the federal poverty guideline for one person: $2,394 a month as of January 2026.

How Washington Calculates Child Support

  1. Find each parent's monthly net income: gross income minus income taxes, FICA, mandatory state deductions, union dues, pension and some retirement contributions, maintenance paid and business expenses (worksheet lines 1-3).
  2. Add both net incomes, round to the nearest $100 and read the per-child amount in the column for the number of children. Multiply by the number of children (line 5).
  3. Multiply by each parent's share of combined net income (lines 6-7) and apply the low-income limits (lines 8-9).
  4. Add each parent's share of health insurance, uninsured health costs, day care and special expenses (lines 10-15), and subtract what the paying parent pays directly (line 16).

The Washington Economic Table

Sample rows (per-child amounts at combined monthly net income):

Combined net income1 child2 children (each)3 children (each)
$2,200$477$367$298
$4,000$843$643$518
$6,000$1,048$795$637
$8,000$1,270$960$767
$10,000$1,451$1,099$879
$15,000$1,876$1,443$1,158
$20,000$2,302$1,823$1,477
$30,000$2,966$2,435$2,015
$50,000$3,916$3,058$2,692

The table runs from $2,200 to $50,000 in $100 steps for one to five children. Below $2,200 support depends on each household's resources and living expenses, with a presumptive minimum of $50 per child. Above $50,000 the court may order more, with written findings.

Low-Income Limits and the 45% Limit

Residential Time and Deviations

Washington has no automatic credit for overnights. The court may deviate from the standard calculation when the children spend a significant amount of time with the paying parent, considering that parent's increased costs, but not if it would leave the other household without enough for the children's basic needs or if the children receive TANF.

Washington Child Support Examples

In each example Parent B has the children most of the time. Amounts are monthly and come from this calculator.

Example 1: One child

A earns $5,000 and B earns $3,000 gross. Net incomes are $4,199.17 and $2,592.17, rounded to the $6,800 row: $1,126. A's 61.8% share is $696.22 a month.

Example 2: Two children with insurance and day care

A earns $6,000 and B earns $4,000. The $8,400 row gives $987 per child ($1,974). A's 59.3% share is $1,171.48, plus 59.3% of $800 health insurance and day care paid by B: $1,646.24 a month.

Example 3: Low income

A earns $2,500 (net $2,190.42, below the $2,394 reserve) and B earns $6,000, two children. The presumptive amount is $50 per child: $100 a month.

Frequently Asked Questions About Washington Child Support

Is this the official Washington child support calculator?

No. ChildSupportCalculator.xyz is an independent tool and is not affiliated with the State of Washington, its courts or the Division of Child Support. It applies the Washington State Child Support Schedule. A court or DCS sets the actual amount.

Does Washington use gross or net income for child support?

Net income. Gross income is reduced by taxes, FICA and other allowed deductions, and the two net incomes are added to read the economic table.

What changed in Washington child support in 2026?

A new economic table took effect on January 1, 2026. It goes up to $50,000 of combined net income and up to five children.

How is child support calculated in Washington?

Read the per-child amount at combined net income, multiply by the number of children and by the paying parent's share of income, apply the low-income limits, then add that parent's share of health care and day care.

What is the minimum child support in Washington?

The presumptive minimum is $50 per child per month. A parent whose net income is below the $2,394 self-support reserve is presumed to owe that minimum.

Does 50/50 custody change child support in Washington?

Not automatically. Washington has no time-share formula; the court may deviate from the standard calculation when the children spend significant time with the paying parent.

Is day care included in Washington child support?

Yes. Day care and health care are not in the economic table; they are shared by income and added on the worksheet, with credit for direct payments.

Is there an income cap for child support in Washington?

The table is presumptive up to $50,000 of combined monthly net income. Above that the court may order more with written findings.

Does the Washington calculator need my personal details or a login?

No. This site needs no login and does not store your numbers.
