Hawaii Child Support Calculator
Estimate Hawaii child support with the 2024 Hawai'i Child Support Guidelines (effective April 1, 2024), the Table of Incomes and the Child Support Guidelines Worksheet, including extensive time-sharing.
How to Use the Hawaii Child Support Calculator
Enter what you know and press Calculate Estimate. The calculator follows the 2024 Hawai'i Child Support Guidelines and the Child Support Guidelines Worksheet (CSGW). We checked its results against the official Excel worksheets published by the Hawai'i State Judiciary.
- Enter each parent's monthly gross income. Net income is figured the same way as the official Table of Incomes.
- Choose the number of children and the parent the children live with most of the time.
- Enter the overnights a year with the other parent. More than 143 uses the extensive time-sharing worksheet.
- Add monthly child care and the health insurance cost for the children, and say which parent pays them.
Your numbers are sent with the form, not placed in the page address, and this site does not store them. This is a planning estimate. The Family Court or the Child Support Enforcement Agency decides the actual amount.
Hawaii Child Support Guidelines in 2026
Looking for new child support guidelines in Hawaii for 2026? The current rules are the 2024 Hawai'i Child Support Guidelines, effective April 1, 2024 (Family Court memorandum of March 20, 2024). They set the primary support amount at $455 per child, the minimum at $91 per child, the self-support reserve at $1,693 and the SOLA set-aside at $1,303. The Table of Incomes uses 2022 federal and state tax rates. We found no newer guidelines as of October 2026. This page will be updated if the guidelines change.
New guidelines do not automatically change an existing order. A parent generally has to ask for a modification.
The Hawaii Table of Incomes
The Table of Incomes (Appendix B) lists, for each monthly gross income, the net income (after 2022 federal and Hawaii tax, FICA for a single taxpayer, and the $1,693 self-support reserve) and the SOLA income (gross minus $1,303). Net income is not take-home pay. Sample lines:
| Monthly gross income | Net income | SOLA income |
|---|
| $2,000 | $0 | $697 |
| $3,000 | $546 | $1,697 |
| $5,000 | $1,839 | $3,697 |
| $8,000 | $3,691 | $6,697 |
| $13,000 | $6,739 | $11,697 |
Extensive and Equal Time-Sharing
If the parent with fewer overnights has more than 143 overnights a year, the Extensive Time-Sharing Worksheet (Appendix A-2) applies:
- Equal time-sharing support is half of the difference between the two parents' Line 17 amounts.
- The difference between regular support and equal time-sharing support is divided by 40 to get a rate per overnight.
- That rate times the overnights above 143 is subtracted from regular support.
This creates a gradual reduction from 143 overnights to equal time-sharing at about 183.
Hawaii Child Support Examples
In each example the children live with Parent B. Amounts are monthly and match the official Excel worksheets.
Example 1: One child
A earns $5,000 and B earns $3,000. A pays $731 a month.
Example 2: Two children with costs
A earns $6,000, B earns $4,000, and B pays $600 child care and $300 insurance. A pays $1,961 a month.
Example 3: 160 overnights
A earns $7,000 and B earns $3,000, one child, 160 overnights with A. Regular support is $977, reduced by the extensive time-sharing credit to $733 a month.
Example 4: Low income
A earns $2,000, one child. A's net income on the Table of Incomes is $0, so the $91 minimum applies.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hawaii Child Support
Is this the official Hawaii child support calculator?
No. ChildSupportCalculator.xyz is an independent tool and is not affiliated with the State of Hawai'i, its courts or the Child Support Enforcement Agency. It follows the 2024 guidelines and was checked against the official Excel worksheets.
How is child support calculated in Hawaii?
Net incomes come from the Table of Incomes. The primary need ($455 per child plus child care and insurance) and a standard of living adjustment are added, split by net income share, and credits are given for costs each parent pays.
Are there new child support guidelines in Hawaii?
The current guidelines are the 2024 Hawai'i Child Support Guidelines, effective April 1, 2024. We found no newer guidelines as of October 2026.
What is the minimum child support in Hawaii?
$91 per child per month.
Does Hawaii use gross or net income?
Both. Net income (from the Table of Incomes) sets each parent's share, and gross income minus $1,303 is used for the standard of living adjustment.
How do overnights affect child support in Hawaii?
If the parent with fewer overnights has more than 143 a year, the extensive time-sharing worksheet gradually reduces support toward the equal time-sharing amount.
What is SOLA in Hawaii child support?
The standard of living adjustment adds 10% per child, up to 30%, of the parents' combined income above $1,303 each, after the primary need is covered.
Is there a maximum child support in Hawaii?
A parent's total support obligation generally should not exceed their net income from the Table of Incomes, if that is more than $91 per child.
How is health insurance handled in Hawaii?
The cost of the children's coverage is added to the need and credited to the parent who pays it.
Does the Hawaii calculator need my personal details or a login?
