- Choose the number of children and the parent with primary residential responsibility.
- Enter the court-ordered overnights a year with the other parent, or tick equal residential responsibility.
- Enter the children's share of the health insurance premium if the paying parent pays it.
Your numbers are sent with the form, not placed in the page address, and this site does not store them. This is a planning estimate. A North Dakota court sets the actual amount.

How North Dakota Calculates Child Support
North Dakota uses an obligor income model: only the paying parent's income counts.
- Start with the paying parent's total gross annual income.
- Subtract a hypothetical federal income tax (single filer, standard deduction), a hypothetical state income tax equal to 11% of the federal tax, FICA and Medicare, and the part of the health insurance premium that covers the children.
- Divide by 12 and round to the nearest $100 ($50 or more rounds up).
- Read the amount from the schedule for the number of children.
The North Dakota Child Support Schedule
Sample rows (paying parent's monthly net income):
| Monthly net income | 1 child | 2 children | 3 children |
|---|
| $900 | $90 | $126 | $171 |
| $2,000 | $431 | $562 | $665 |
| $4,200 | $780 | $1,188 | $1,417 |
| $5,600 | $1,002 | $1,586 | $1,896 |
| $8,000 | $1,382 | $2,269 | $2,717 |
| $25,000 or more | $3,500 | $4,250 | $5,000 |
The schedule runs in $100 steps. Support is $0 at $800 or less and stays at the top row for $25,000 or more, with columns for one to six or more children.
